Mayday! Underground is Tomorrow!

Rochester’s largest indie art + craft market is taking over the Village Gate tomorrow morning starting at 10am. Here’s a comprehensive post to outline all the details:

SWAG Arrive early (well before 10am) at the stairs next to Hana. The first 50 people in line will receive a swag bag. Here’s a taste of what you may find in your swag:

Lots of goodies including a 585 magazine, earrings from Peppermint, little treats from Prismatic Gardens, rings from Sunshyne Silverwear, free truffle coupon from Hedonist, notecards from Fawnsberg and Carrie Lindstrom, hand stamped postcard from Jackbear Stamps, cute tags from Making the Nest of It, plus lots more are in the swag bags this spring. To top it off, everything comes bundled in a limited-edition screen printed Mayday! Underground canvas tote bag!

VENDORS Take a look at the lineup HERE. We have over 70 vendors with jewelry, bath + body products, home decor, pottery, art, photography, paper goods, glass items, clothes and accessories, comics, fiber art, and more.

MORE SWAG If you missed the swag bags, there’s still a chance to win handmade. Every hour on the hour (from 11-3) we’re giving away a MONDO swag bag. These bags have bigger prizes. In the past, these bags have contained hand thrown mugs, plush, jewelry, art prints, t-shirts, sculptures, and lots of other neat things. To enter the raffle, earn free raffle tickets by telling us where you heard about us, joining our e-mail list, donating toiletries to Sample Soap, and visiting our DIY area.

DIY AREA New this year is the DIY Area. It’s tucked into the back stairwell area, behind the purple spiral staircase. There, you can participate in Mixed Messages Zine’s community cut and paste (bring paper materials to collage with), make a free button (and learn about their upcoming classes) with Little Button Craft & Press, learn about the Rochester Broadway Theatre’s upcoming shows, watch a live mural painting, and add your own art to the community graffiti panel. There is no cost to do any of the activities in the DIY Area! Further, feel free to bring your own drawing supplies to contribute to the graffiti panel.

LOCATION Everything is going on in the Village Gate Atrium, located on the second floor of the Village Gate (274 Goodman St N, Rochester, NY). If you’ve never been, worry not! There will be bright green signs to direct you to the event and there is a HUGE, free parking lot on site.

We hope to see you there!
