The Hungerford is a community of artists, craftspeople and businesses in the historic Hungerford Building in Rochester, NY. In the early-to-mid 1900s, it was a major manufacturing plant for the J. Hungerford Smith Company, who made “True Fruit” flavored syrups, as well as the flavor syrup for A&W Root Beer.
Today, The Hungerford is one of the major art centers in Rochester. The majority of spaces are rented by artists as working studios and retail shops. Many of the studios offer classes too.
First Fridays are bustling with activity with dozens of open studios, many with special events. Many studios & shops are open on Second Saturdays as well. And between Thanksgiving and Christmas, The Hungerford will be open every Saturday so you can shop for everyone in one creative place. It’s THE place to buy original art!
Hope to see you soon!
